Cash Purse, Trophies, and Prizes
The guaranteed cash purse at the time of this posting stands at $1,450. As we continue to receive online registrations and additional sponsorship, we plan to grow the purse. 1st place trophies will be awarded in each species subdivision (i.e., 20 in all). We also have over $500 of "in kind" prizes from Bailey's Bait & Tackle (rod-n-reel combo, T-shirts, pier net, etc.), Chris' Bait & Tackle (rod-n-reel combo, T-Shirts, caps, etc.), Timothy Smith and Sons Fine Arts ($100 certificate), Cape Charles Coffee House, Dacha Tea ($20), Shanty ($75 certificate), Moonrise Jewelry ($20), Kelly's Gingernut Pub ($25), Fish Dispatch rod-n-reel combos, Deadrise Pies, CC Cool Eatz, Captain Joe's Rod & Cart Rental, Gull Hammock Wine & Cheese ($25), Hopes Harbor Hair ($20), and Cape Charles Wellness Massage & Spa Nails ($20). The Military Appreciation Calcutta division is being funded outside of the official tournament (i.e. the cash stays in a pile outside of Fish Dispatch - currently at $100). If you are active or previously served military, you are eligible for this all cash Calcutta award. You must be registered in the tournament to be eligible. Biggest fish of any kind wins. Those who want to show their appreciation to our military are encouraged to donate to this purse. 100% of the donation goes to the purse. New to 2018 will be a team division and trophy based on the top seven (7) finishers of each team.

Live Leaderboard
You'll want to bookmark this link on your browser smartphone. Real time information regarding status of the catches, growth of the cash purse, and official fishing hours will be posted on the live leaderboard during the tournament. The leaderboard is currently active as we are performing test of this unique rule base (ignore the catch data ... it is fake) adding sponsor logos, and adding team registrations. Please read further about becoming a sponsor with the option to also offer in-kind prizes from your business (e.g., coupons, discounts on services, etc.).
Schedule of Events

*Note: Be advised, we may shut down the official fishing periods based on weather, and we plan to expand the official fishing hours based on more optimal fishing conditions and our ability to staff the weigh-master positions. Volunteers and Coaches
We are actively recruiting fishing coaches and other volunteers for the Cape Charles event. Would you consider yourself an "ole fishing salt?" Are you a charter boat captain or do you run a fishing guide service in the area. If so, please consider joining us for a day or partial day out on the pier. We'd like to match you up with families and Special Anglers who will be requesting some assistance. We can provide your service mega-visibility on the Live Leaderboard. Until we assign a chief fishing coach, please reach out to Joe Smith @ Special Angler via this email if you are interested in volunteering. We planning to assist over 30 registered Special Anglers for this event.
This is a very tactical tournament and our anglers often need coaching on the finer points of bottom fishing and targeting of of unique fish species to best position themselves for winning a sub-division. And by the way, this does not disqualify you from competing in any of the divisions that you qualify, so plan to back up your "fishing trash talk" with certified catches.
If you need this type of assistance as a team or individual competitor, please note that when you register so that we can plan to match you up with an abled body "ole salt" and appropriate fishing gear.
All, please consider forming teams for this event. You may enroll as a family unit, a school, a business, Special Olympics Areas, or even a church youth group. We plan to additionally provide a final team ranking on the leaderboard for this event. Don't forget to provide us your team logo so that it can be displayed on your Team Viewers that show all the pictures of your catches.

2018 Cape Charles King of the Bay (KOB) Fundraiser Tourney
We are currently evaluating a 2018 "big boy" boat tourney to be run out of Cape Charles over the 4th of July break to be used as a fundraiser for our 2018 QOB pier tourney to follow. We are considering three (species) that would include cobia, flounder, and spadefish. We are targeting a $10,000 prorated purse* based on attracting 75 boat entries . We are seeking your feedback here. Please pass the link to others who may also be interested.
* Purse to grow or shrink based on the boat entries.

2016 Remaining T-Shirts
We have about 15 T-shirts remaining in multiple sizes (adult and youth) and colors (no more adult mediums or XL). Please email joe@FishDispatch.com if you want to check on a size/color. These original inaugural T-shirts may become extremely valuable in the years to come, so get them while they last. Also, consider that this event was a fundraiser for Special Angler Foundation (and we'd really like to get rid of this inventory ;-) )
